Manager Bootcamp Founder Urges HR Professionals to Brush Up on their Business Know-how

VANCOUVER, B.C. — May 2, 2008 — Manager Bootcamp’s founder, Harv Phandal together with Jeff Higgins of Infohrm delivered a lively and informative session to over 200 Human Resource Professionals during the annual BC HRMA Conference in Vancouver, May 1st.

The co-facilitators spoke about why Human Resources needs to know the ins and outs of business, as well as talent. The two shared tips and techniques to show HR professionals how to measure the impact of their work.

“If you can’t speak the language of business, you’ll have a hard time being accepted as a business partner,” says Harv Phandal. She says being a partner is increasingly important, “because with labour shortages, an aging workforce, being able to hire and retain the best employees will be an increasing challenge, and a way to ensure a competitive advantage for your business.”

Harv has combined her passion for effective HR practices with her excitement for grooming new managers into a training practice called Manager Bootcamp. The recently launched practice helps new managers get practical training to ensure they are effective in their new roles.

Prior to launching this new venture, Harv Phandal worked extensively in the Technology, Education and Outsourcing sectors. She also possesses strong expertise in the full-cycle of Human Resources and holds the CHRP designation. Prior to launching Manager Bootcamp, Harv worked in a variety of senior roles at Infohrm, PeopleSoft, Cognos, Telus Sourcing Solutions and Pivotal Software. For the past 7 years she has been an Instructor in the Human Resources Management Program at BCIT. Harv has received her MBA from Royal Roads University.
